About this camp

The SMU Lyle School of Engineering's Introduction to Engineering camp is a five-day program designed for rising 7th and 8th-grade students with little to no prior exposure to engineering, designing, or integrated STEM programs. The camp introduces general processes and topics across various engineering disciplines, including electrical, mechanical, civil and environmental, and computer science. Through carefully designed hands-on activities and projects, students will engage in activities that mirror the engineering design process. The curriculum and projects are developed by CIEE faculty, staff, and counselors, with support and mentorship from SMU Lyle Engineering students and other DFW college Science & Engineering students. All necessary project materials are provided, and the camp aims to foster technical skills, creativity, and teamwork in an academic setting.
